“We are targeting to have one million families with young children attend the BKB meeting at posyandu (integrated health posts) every month, and one million children aged 0-6 years that attend the meeting have their progress monitored with child development cards,” the agency’s Director of Under-Five Children and Children Family Development, Irma Ardiana, remarked.
Ardiana made the statement at the Great Parents Class Series 10 event broadcast online here on Thursday.
The BKB program is a coaching program for families to realize optimal growth and development of young children.
She said that families with under-six children, who come to the posyandu, contribute to the success of reporting BKB activities in the BKKBN’s Family Information System (SIGA). This is aimed at recording the proportion of children’s growth and development in preparation for realizing the 2045 Golden Indonesia vision.
Ardiana noted that in September 2023, the BKB program was able to record the attendance of 643,388 families, or 64.34 percent, in the coaching meeting in posyandu, and the health of 642,946 children, or 64.29 percent, brought by their parents to the meeting was monitored by utilizing the child development cards.
Although the program’s achievement still reaches 64 percent, Ardiana affirmed that her agency will continue to disseminate information to the community, especially those with young children, to make the most of the program to gain knowledge on good parenting to optimize children’s growth and development.
“We still have tasks to do, and therefore, we really ask everyone to become social agents by encouraging families with young children to come and join BKB,” she remarked.
