The first major patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 recently landed, bringing with it 1,000+ bug fixes and changes, and the next big update will arrive soon. Larian Studios has announced that Patch 2 is “around the corner,” and it sounds like another significant patch.
In a community update shared via Steam earlier today, Larian elaborated on the “major performance improvements” and “many new tweaks and changes” coming to Baldur’s Gate 3 in Patch 2. According to the studio, Patch 2 will include “substantial performance improvements,” particularly to Act 3, as well as better closure to the story’s final act in the form of “a more fleshed-out ending for Karlach.” In addition, the studio will aim to fix issues regarding certain events in the world not triggering, or cases where players have reported being inexplicably locked out of certain storylines. The patch will also mark the start of Larian’s effort to incorporate fan feedback on Baldur’s Gate 3’s Origin character epilogues. Beyond these changes, Larian is telling fans to expect “other major things” in Patch 2.
Patch 1 for Baldur’s Gate 3 fixed a variety of visual bugs and problems with NPCs, among many other things. For more, check out the full patch notes for Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 1.
In other news, Larian has announced that Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to Xbox Series X|S later this year. However, the Series S edition will not include co-op, though it might come after launch. The PS5 edition arrives on September 6, but a date for the Xbox version has not been announced.
The RPG officially launched on PC earlier this month after being in Early Access since 2020. It’s been a huge hit, reaching a peak of more than 875,000 concurrent players. For more, check out GameSpot’s guides hub for Baldur’s Gate 3.
