Destiny 2 brings Insight back into the menu, this time combining the currency with Opaque Cards, which are part of a new system in Season of the Witch.
As you progress through the season, you’ll encounter Opaque Cards as a result of a number of activities. In order to unlock their hidden potential, you’ll first have to complete a related quest, which asks for the currency. Here’s how to get Insight for Opaque Cards in Destiny 2, and how to best prioritize your activities around it.
How to Get Insight in Destiny 2 to Unlock Opaque Cards
In order to gain Insight in Destiny 2, you first need to progress through the “Toil and Trouble” questline. This is part of the introductory mission, so it’s hard to miss. Then, once you’ve gained access to the Lectern of Divination in the HELM, the Deck of Whispers will show all your available arcana.
Before gaining access to the benefits of each arcana, the card will appear as an Opaque Card. Upon clicking them, you’ll gain a quest specific to said arcana. For most of them, you’ll need to gather a specific amount of Insight, but there’s also the possibility of an additional objective.
Arcana quests appear separate from the seasonal quest in your hub. From the column on the left, head to the Seasonal category to see all active quests. I recommend doing so before partaking in any activity, so you can plan ahead accordingly.
The Destiny 2 Insight currency is obtained by completing the task requested in the arcana quest of the Opaque Card. Bear in mind that some are location-specific, so make sure to double-check the exact requirements.
Below are a few examples of Opaque Card quests in Destiny 2 that we’ve seen so far:
- I – The Sisters: Gather Insight (25) by defeating Hive combatants in Savathun’s Spire and the Altars of Summoning. These are the new seasonal activities, which can be accessed from the HELM. Defeating hive enemies usually drops one Insight each, and the rate seems fairly generous at the start of the season.
- III – The Adherent: Gather Insight (5) from public event chests. Heroic public event chests will provide additional Insight. For this, search for public events while you’re roaming around planets.
- IV – The Harbinger: While on the Moon, complete waves of Altars of Sorrow (5). Additionally, defeat Nightmares in Sorrow’s Harbor to gather Insight (5).
- V – Blades: Eliminate combatants using swords, glaive melee attacks, and melee abilities in Savathun’s Spire or the Altars of Summoning to gather Insight (25).
Defeating hive enemies usually drops one Insight each, and the rate seems fairly generous at the start of the season. Once you’ve collected the necessary Insight for a quest, you’ll get an update telling you to return to the Lectern of Divination. Click on the quest to complete the task, and you’ll gain access to the Arcana.
Once again, make sure to activate the Opaque Card quests as soon as possible. You’re bound to be taking part in the new seasonal activities often. As such, equipping yourself with the right weapon and choosing the necessary locations will save you time, and might even lead you to tackle multiple quests at once if you plan accordingly.
