Netflix has announced that Oscar-nominated actor Laurence Fishburne is joining the cast of The Witcher for its upcoming fourth season.

Fishburne, who famously played Orpheus in The Matrix and earned an Academy Award nomination for What’s Love Got to do With It, will play Regis. This character was introduced in the book Baptism of Fire, and he’s described as a “world-wide barber-surgeon with a mysterious past.” He will team up with Geralt, who will be played by Liam Hemsworth after Henry Cavill moved on from the role.

“I’m very excited to be joining the cast and look forward to exploring the wondrous world of The Witcher,” Fishburne said in a statement.

In addition to Hemsworth and Fishburne, Season 4 brings back Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan as Yennefer and Ciri, respectively.

Here is the story overview for The Witcher Season 4:

“After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire–and finding one another again.”

No release date has been announced for The Witcher Season 4, but production is reportedly set to begin early this year.
