“Anyone winning the general elections must be those chosen by the people of Indonesia. Hence, let us all respect and provide them with support,” he remarked at the commemoration of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle’s (PDIP’s ) 51st anniversary in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Amin then noted that some segments of Indonesian society might vote for those who end up losing in the 2024 presidential election.
However, he affirmed that those people will still be part of the nation while pushing election winners to embrace and protect them.
“This nation’s commitment to paving the way for a better democracy should go beyond the conclusion of the elections. Continuous efforts are required to foster democracy. Everyone, including those in political parties, is responsible for this,” he stressed.
The vice president then expressed hope that the 2024 General Elections would run successfully and help Indonesia improve the implementation of its democracy and affirm its image as one of the largest democracies in the world.
To that end, he affirmed that all people should collaborate and cooperate to ensure the smooth running of truly democratic elections.
