The third seeded Indian thrashed the Indonesian straight games in just 36 minutes.

On the other hand, Parupalli Kashyap lost to Su Li Yang of Chinese Taipei 16-21, 17-21 in 42 minutes.
In the mixed doubles event, Rohan Kapoor and Sikki Reddy also failed to make it through after losing 13-21, 18-21 to the Chinese Taipei pairing of Chiu Hsiang Chieh and Lin Xiao Min.
Later in the day, Tanya Hemanth will face Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei.
